Following on from the authors Ancient Topography of Eastern Phokis 1986 andTopography and Population of Ancient Boiotia 1988 this monograph completeshis studies of settlement in antiquity of Eastern Central Greece excludingAttike and Megaris. The structure of the book is exactly the same as theparallel work on Eastern Phokis an account of the physical geography andnatural economy of the area is followed by a detailed catalogue of 22 sites inwhich location bibliography and structural remains are discussed surfacefinds and inscriptions are listed and the possible identifications withancient names are elaborated after these presentations of the raw dataanalytical sections on settlement development and organisation onfortifications and on cults follow.
