Book
A thin and really rather annoying Polish novel originally published in 1980whose narrator indulges homosexual daydreams and fantasies while exchangingmemories and debating the nature of the epicurean sensibility with hiscounterpart an elderly German pursuer and exploiter of beautiful boys. Thepolitical dimensions of their phlegmatic rejection of conventional behaviorare here and there suggested but both the novels strength its Oidelikedelicacy and robust erotic candor and its cloying hothouse tone derive almostentirely from its steadfastly maintained amorality.
