This book traces the career of Roy Ward Baker one of the great survivors ofthe British film and television industry. He directed the landmark British filmMorning Departure 1949 worked at Twentieth Century Fox in Hollywood in theearly 1950s where he directed Marilyn Monroe and the best version of theTitanic disaster A Night to Remember in 1958. He then moved to televisionseries such as The Avengers The Saint and Minder. Later Baker reemergedas a major director of sciencefiction Quatermass and The Pit and horrorfilms Asylum.
