De 'zij' in bovenstaand fragment is Marte Jacobs, het mysterieuze en ongrijpbare meisje om wie alles draait in de zwartromantische, ontroerende nieuwe roman van Tim Krabbé. De jonge en succesvolle dichter Emile Binenbaum is verliefd op haar, eerst zonder het zelf te weten en op afstand, maar al spoedig met de bedoeling haar meer te laten zijn dan de bezielster van zijn beste gedicht.
