The second edition of HighTech English is intended for students of technology and engineering in Dutch universities of applied sciences who have to study English as part of their curriculum. The competences dealt with cover various aspects of communication in English both written and oral. Students learn how to apply general reading and writing techniques effectively how to correspond and write reports how to deliver presentations and participate in meetings and how to engage in several types of dialogues. HighTech English can be used in classrooms as well as in education projects and problembased learning but can also be studies independently. Its approach is practical how a communication assignment should me tackled is more important than why one approach should be chosen over another. The student should me a competent communicator in English by the time or he she has studied all the material in the book. HighTech English is accompanied by a CDROM which contains suggested keys to most of the assignments a module on speaking and listening skills and an example report. «
