Iedereen redeneert, in zichzelf of met anderen, mondeling of in geschrifte, en daarmee beschikt iedereen over discursieve vaardigheden. Het woord discursief is afgeleid van het franse woord discours, wat zoveel wil zeggen als betoog of redenering.
